Hornbeck teacher arrested

A Vernon Parish teacher was arrested arrested for alleged inappropriate behavior with a juvenile. On Monday, April 30, the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Maurna Thornton, 39, of Hornbeck. She was charged with one count Felony Carnal Knowledge of a Juvenile. The arrest is in reference to an alleged incident that occurred with a 14-year-old male juvenile. (more...)

Teacher Arrested for Alleged Sexual Abuse

A middle school teacher has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing one of his former students. Montgomery County Police charged 47-year-old Joseph Robert Ballmann with sexual abuse of a minor, third-degree sexual offense, and sexual solicitation of a minor. He was arrested at his home in Rockville on Wednesday night. Police say Ballmann engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with a now-15-year-old boy while the boy was in seventh and eighth grade at Robert Frost Middle School in Rockville. (more...)

High School Coach Arrested

A high school softball coach faces charges of giving alcohol to a Western Albemarle High School student. 24-year-old Alisha Stewart is accused of giving a 15-year-old female student alcohol on two different days. Police say on the morning of May 1, the student showed up at school under the influence of alcohol. After investigating, police arrested Stewart, the junior varsity softball head coach, for providing alcohol to the student on April 26 and April 30. (more...)

Victims Sought After Salsa Dance Instructor Arrested

Investigators on Thursday asked sexual assault victims to come forward following the arrest of an Antioch man who teaches salsa dancing. Police arrested Joseph Francisco Gallardo, 38, of Antioch, on suspicion of a sexual assault of an 18-year-old girl in February 2006, Albany police reported. (more...)

VB student arrested for phoned gun threat

A student at Green Run High School has been charged with disorderly conduct and making a false police report after police say he phoned in a threat of gun violence that caused the school to be locked down on Monday. Police did not release the suspect's name or any other information because the 15-year-old student is a minor. A police spokesman said the student was charged and then released to his parents pending a trial date. (more...)

Student arrested for threats at Waukegan High

A 17-year-old Waukegan High School student was arrested Wednesday in connection with threats made against the school, according to Waukegan police. Joseph Mitchell of Waukegan has been charged with two counts of disorderly conduct and was scheduled for a bond hearing Thursday in Waukegan, according to a release from Waukegan police. (more...)

Lancaster Student Arrested For Alleged Handgun On Campus

A Lancaster high school student who allegedly brought a handgun to the campus was under arrest Thursday, authorities said.Marques Howard, 18, of Lancaster, was taken into custody at about 11 a.m. Wednesday at Desert Winds High School, 45030 N. Student arrested in Kirk Middle School 'hit list' incident

State Police have arrested a Kirk Middle School seventh grader today for preparing a threatening note found by fellow students Wednesday, according to state police spokesman Cpl. Jeff Whitmarsh. The note, described as a “hit list,” identified nine students the note writer allegedly wanted to harm. Written on a torn sheet of paper, it listed the students by first name only and said that they would be harmed in the days to come, Whitmarsh said. (more...)

Gorham student arrested; school feared disaster

A Gorham Middle School eighth-grader who had made references to shooting people was arrested on April 12 on a charge of soliciting to commit murder, police said Wednesday. Gorham Police Lt. Chris Sanborn declined to release a name or provide many details, but confirmed the student is a 14-year-old Gorham boy. Sanborn said the suspect was removed from the middle school on April 10 and police began an investigation. (more...)

Student arrested for making bomb threat at Hope High

A student at Hope, Ark., High School has been arrested for making a comment that he would blow up the school. Hope police said they got a phone tip Wednesday afternoon that the student had told people he would detonate a bomb at school on Thursday. Police and sheriff's deputies arrested the teen-ager and also searched his home. They have not disclosed if anything was found at the house but said in a prepared statement that "there is no specific, credible evidence to suggest any explosive device or any device of a harmful nature was brought to the school's campus." Man arrested after confrontation at college

A man was arrested at Scott County Community College this morning after a confrontation with a school instructor, according to the Scott County Sheriff's office. The man, possibly a student, was standing in a hallway at about 11:40 a.m., apparently having mental difficulties and talking to himself, when he was approached by the instructor. Deputies were called to the scene after some sort of confrontation occurred, Major Mike Brown of the Scott County Sheriff's office said. (more...)

High School Teacher Arrested For Sexual Misconduct

A high school coach and teacher was arrested on charges of sexual misconduct with 11 former students. The Walton County Sheriff's Office charged Mark Cozzie with seven felony counts of lewd or lascivious conduct, one felony count of lewd or lascivious molestation and three misdemeanor counts of battery, the Northwest Florida Daily News reported. Cozzie, 38, was arrested Wednesday and released on $50,000 bond. (more...)

Two North Clay Middle School students arrested after bomb threat

Indiana State Police arrested two male students, ages 13 and 14, from North Clay Middle School for the bomb threat received to the Clay County school Tuesday. The arrests were made around 8 p.m. Wednesday. The students were taken to the Southwest Regional Youth Village in Vincennes, according to an Indiana State Police news release. (more...)

Iota High coach Blaine Johnson, 31, was arrested Tuesday and charged with carnal knowledge of a female student in 2005 while an assistant football and assistant softball coach at Church Point High. A high school softball coach was arrested this weekend on charges of inappropriately touching a minor. Lauren Kathleen Palmer, 22, an assistant softball coach at Centennial High School in Boise, was arrested Saturday after investigators reported she had inappropriate contact with a 16-year-old girl. "A student at the Houston-area Clements High School was arrested, sent to an "Alternative Education Center" and banned from graduation after school officials found he created a video game map of his school. School district police arrested the teen and searched his home where they confiscated a hammer as a 'potential weapon'. PV teacher accused of misconduct with student


An English teacher and spirit line coach at Paradise Valley High School was arrested today on 29 counts of sexual conduct with a minor. Jennifer Mally, 26, was taken into custody at the school's administrative offices in Northeast Phoenix. The parents of a 16-year-old male student contacted the school Wednesday morning and school officials then called police. Police were told that it had been an ongoing situation that began in October. Two McIntosh students arrested on drug charges, others investigated

Two McIntosh High School students face criminal drug charges and six others face disciplinary action by school officials after a faculty member walked in on what appears to be an "apparent drug transaction," police said. Teachers Arrested for Booze Parties with Kids

Last March, a 35-year-old language arts teacher at Pueblo South High School, Amanda Tilley, was placed on paid administrative leave for allegedly providing alcohol to students. This week, Tilley and security guard Joseph Borjon, 24, were arrested after surrendering to authorities. Warrants had been issued for each of them on two felony counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors. (more...)

Three Winnebago Students Arrested

A threat was made, the police were called in, and three Winnebago High School students have been arrested. Students were sent home with letters Tuesday so their parents could be alerted to the situation. A lot of rumors have circulated about the threats, but it is important to start with what is confirmed. Three students have been arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. The arrests were a result of an ongoing investigation by the Village of Winnebago Police Department. That investigation started Monday morning at about 10 a.m. after the school district called the police because students were overheard making threats to other students. (more...)

Student Arrested for “Suspected Terrorist Activity”

A Chinese student been arrested, charged with “Suspected Terrorist Activity”. This student was apprehended after parents discovered that he had used plans of his High School in the creation of a map for an online first person shooter. The authorities were notified after parents learned of the map from their children, who had downloaded it off of the internet. (more...)

An Amherst high school student is facing weapons charges after a boy was seen carrying a gun on school property. The Grade 11 student at Amherst Regional High was removed from school Tuesday afternoon after students reported seeing a gun in a backpack. The gun turned out to be a low-velocity air pistol. Teacher snorts coke in front of students

In an incident that perhaps gives a new meaning to the phrase 'supply teacher', a 59-year-old substitute teacher has been arrested on suspicion of repeatedly taking cocaine in front of the class she was teaching. The arrest came after two girls - one nine, the other ten - reported that Joan Donatelli had been dipping a pen cap into a small plastic bag filled with white powder, then putting the pen lid to her nose. UGA student held after run-in with cops

A University of Georgia student who was set to graduate with his MBA later this month remained in custody Tuesday, after confronting police Monday night with a handgun when they came to his apartment to serve a search warrant. A worried business school official called UGA police Monday after Brandon Ginyard, 27, made comments in a meeting after class that led the faculty member to believe Ginyard could pose a danger to himself or others, UGA Police Chief Jimmy Williamson said. Dover High School Teacher Arrested

A Dover High School chemistry teacher is facing charges. Police say Damon Bethel approached one of his students at a gas station Saturday and demanded the student drive him to go and buy marijuana. The victim told police he drove him out of fear. Bethel was later arrested for driving erratically. He is now facing coercion and official misconduct charges. (more...)

Lawsuits likely in abuse case

Five families of alleged victims of sexual abuse at the Okte Elementary School have signaled their intent to sue the school district. The Shenendehowa Central School District said it had received five notices of claim by Tuesday afternoon. A notice of claim is a legal document warning an institution such as a school district that a lawsuit is on its way. The notices usually contain few details. Christopher Culver, 32, who used to be one of the most popular teachers at Okte Elementary, was arrested in February and charged with having sexual contact with six of his first-grade students, all boys. The alleged abuse happened during the school day in Culver's classroom. Culver, who was charged with felony sexual abuse, denies any wrongdoing and said he looks forward to clearing his name. He has been on paid administrative leave since his Feb. 11 arrest. (more...)

'Hockey House' vandalism plea likely

The 13 Shenendehowa High School students and alumni accused of trashing a house on Route 9 are expected to appear in Halfmoon Town Court on Thursday night. "It might come to a plea," Saratoga County District Attorney James A. Murphy III said Tuesday. Police and prosecutors have arrived at a damage amount - $14,500 - that the 13 defendants will be responsible for paying back as restitution, Murphy said. The exact amount of damages to the home were not known before now, he said. Murphy said partiers punched in the sheetrock and ripped a door from its hinges. School teachers arrested

Two area residents, both Jacksonville school teachers, have been arrested for abusing a six-year-old. On Monday, the White County Sheriff's Department Domestic Violence Unit arrested Amy Hilbun, 25 of Beebe and Stephen Rose, 35 of Kensett, both elementary school teachers at Jacksonville Elementary School, for felony battery in connection with an investigation of child abuse. De Pere student arrested in overdose death

A teenager is arrested and accused of supplying the drugs that killed a fellow student at De Pere High School.Seventeen-year-old Corey McNeill was found dead of a drug overdose at a friend's house last fall. De Pere police say drugs used at the house party came from an 18-year-old De Pere student, who was arrested at school yesterday. Police won't say what drugs were involved and say more arrests are a possibility. (more...)

West-Oak High School student arrested for alleged threats

A 16-year-old West-Oak High School student has been arrested after allegedly placing threats on MySpace.com, a popular Web site for teenagers. Oconee County Sheriff’s officers plan a 10 a.m. news conference today at the Oconee County school. School officials said many parents opted to keep their children home today, and additional police officers were posted at the school. High School Student Arrested on Gun Charges

Police arrested a 16-year-old student after he allegedly took a handgun to school on Monday. The gun was discovered after some type of altercation in Radnor High School shortly after 9:00 a.m., police said. Investigators said the student admitted to taking the gun to school and to hiding the gun inside an administrative office. No one was injured. The school was not evacuated. (more...)

Apple Springs student arrested after gunning vehicle at rival

An Apple Springs teenager was injured Thursday while standing in front of the town's high school after a teen whom he is apparently at odds with over a girl allegedly lost control of a vehicle and hit him. Witnesses said Francis Neal Spence, 17, made a U-turn on FM 2501, after seeing Billy Carl Avery, 18, standing in the Apple Springs High School parking lot. After turning around, Spence allegedly gained a high rate of speed before he lost control of his car, wrecking into Avery who was standing in front of his parked pickup, said a Trinity County Sheriff's Office spokesman. "They didn't see him get hit, but they saw him jump out of the way. He may have got just a glancing blow with the vehicle," said deputy Mark Moscinski of the Trinity County Sheriff's Office. Polytechnique student arrested for alleged threats

Montreal police have arrested a student at Ecole Polytechnique after he threatened classmates. The 29-year-old man, who has been treated in the past by psychiatrists, evidently had been acting strangely and talked of Virginia Tech and Dawson College. No firemarms were found in his residence. The student has been charged with criminal harassment and referred to the Pinel Institute of examination. (more...)

Sterling High student arrested for alledged shooting threat

Days after the Virginia Tech massacre, reports of bomb threats, students with guns and target lists have surfaced all over the nation. Reuters reported last week that Virginia Tech had another scare after several police officers barged into a building housing the school’s president because of a reported suspicious activity. This, days after 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui shot to death 32 of his fellow students. Locally, police officers on Thursday arrested a 15-year-old Sterling High School student for allegedly threatening that he would bring a gun to school and “shoot people.” (more...)

Middle school student arrested after third bomb threat in week

13-year-old Horace Mann Middle School student was arrested after police were called about a bomb threat at the school for the second day in a row and the third time in a week. The building was evacuated Friday morning after the latest threat was found scrawled on a sanitary napkin dispenser in a girls' bathroom, Sgt. Dave Anderson said. Police searched the building with help from school administrators but found nothing, and students later returned to class, he said. (more...)

Three teachers arrested in child sex probe

Six people including three female teachers were arrested on Tuesday accused of sexually abusing children as young as three at a school near Rome, local media reported. Teachers at the Olga Rovere joint nursery and primary school in the small town of Rigano were involved in the repeated abuse of 15 children aged three and four, in some cases drugging the children before forcing them to take part in sexual acts while filming them, according to police. A 43-year old knucklehead who has been teaching middle school for the past 7 years decided to get some jollies by showing junior to a school bus load of Holy Cross female crew members. Ex-Teacher Arrested for Second Time in Two Weeks

A former teacher who served time in jail after being accused of having sex with a 13-year-old boy was arrested for the second time in two weeks, with prosecutors saying she contacted the victim again and sent him sexually explicit videos of herself. A judge on Wednesday ordered Pamela Rogers, 28, who had been free on bond after an April 11 arrest on a probation violation charge, to remain in jail until a July hearing. (more...)

Four students arrested for terrorist threats at school

Security was increased at Northview High School Monday and some parents checked their children out of classes after the weekend arrests of four students accused of making terrorist threats on a social networking Web site. Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes said officials began investigating the threats Friday after school officials were contacted by a parent whose child read the postings on a MySpace blog. “Some of the language was very extreme and very to the point, very violent," Hughes said Monday. “We consider all threats to be credible, and we investigate all threats as such. Our policy is intervention, so no matter if they planned to do it or not, we intervened." (more...)

Two students have been arrested and one has been taken to hospital following a fight at Selwyn College in Auckland. Police say a college cafeteria worker was attacked trying to break up the fight between two pupils at around 1.30 this afternoon. (more...)

Student jailed over weapons

A Penn State student remained in jail Sunday night after arriving at an on-campus concert with three weapons, including a gun, and fighting with police as they tried to investigate. Just before midnight Saturday, university police said they were advised a man in the crowd at the Movin' On concert on the HUB lawn was carrying a firearm. As officers approached the man -- later identified by police as Isaiah R. Houston, age unavailable, of 137 Creekside Drive, College Township -- a struggle immediately ensued, said university police Lt. Bill Moerschbacher. (more...)

Police arrested four Harvard University students last night for heckling FBI Director Robert Mueller prior to his speech on the "Balance of National Security and Civil Liberties," witnesses said. Harvard spokesman Joe Wrinn confirmed that four Harvard students were arrested outside the John F. Kennedy School of Government. A high school senior was arrested after writing that "it would be funny" to dream about opening fire in a building and having sex with the dead victims, authorities said. Another passage in the essay advised his teacher at Cary-Grove High School: "don't be surprised on inspiring the first CG shooting," according to a criminal complaint filed this week.
